TEKANAN DALAM CECAIR

Molekul-molekul cecair sentiasa mengalami tarikan ke bawah (gravity). Maka, air mempunyai berat.

 Tekanan = daya / luas   = berat objek / luas

 Oleh itu , kawasan atas cecair akan mengenakan tekanan kepada cecair di bawahnya..

 Kegunaan tekanan dalam cecair,

  Bekalan air diambil dari sungai atau empangan dan dipam ke dalam satu takungan yang dibina di tempat tinggi.

  Dalam takungan , air akan mengalami proses penapisan dan pengklorinan.

  Takungan terletak di satu tempat tinggi bagi memastikan tekanan air adalah cukup kuat untuk mengalir ke semua rumah.   

   Dibina merentasi sungai untuk menakung air tujuan pembekalan air.

   Dinding empangan lebih tebal di bahagian bawah kerana tekanan di bahagian bawah lebih tinggi.

Water Pressure

 

A larger beaker is filled with water. A plastic cylindrical vase with a hole in the bottom and a plate a little larger than the vase's diameter are provided. Hold the plate against the vase's rim and submerge it. Water pressure will hold the plate in this position even if you let go of it. Pour water into the vase until the inside water level equals the outside. The plate will fall as the pressure on both sides of it are equated. This happens independently of the vase's shape.

Glass Pressure Syringe

This apparatus illustrates that pressure is transmitted equally in all directions. It is a long necked flask with the neck accommodating a piston. The glass bulb has a 5 cm diameter and small holes perforated along the circumference. Fill the flask with water and set the piston in place. Hold the syringe so that the plane of the holes is horizontal and apply pressure to the piston. Water will squirt out the same distance from each hole.

 

 

 Air Pressure Lift

Objective

Demonstrate how air pressure can lift a person.

Procedure

Place a sealed garbage bag on a large flat surface. The garbage bag should have only one small opening that is connected to a drinking straw. Place a large board (a table top is good) on top of the garbage bag. Place the large wooden block (seat) on the large board. Find a willing volunteer to sit on the block. Find another volunteer to blow up the garbage bag through the straw. It is surprisingly easy to lift the seated volunteer.

Use bag that fits the size of the table and platform assembly. Seal all seams with clear 2" wide packing tape.
